Bunker

At all international and most domestic port facilities vessels can receive bunker through port to ship bunkering either at bunker points at the quay or by petroleum bowsers. The Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC) provides bunker upon request by the vessel agent (international) and vessel owner or master (domestic).

Receiving bunker at berth is more advantageous to vessels compared to shifting to another berth or bunkering at sea. Shifting to another berth involves additional manoeuvring time, which can delay the vessel’s schedule. The shifts attract additional costs, such as tug boat fees and pilot fees. By bunkering at the same berth where the vessel is already conducting its operations, these additional costs can be avoided, leading to significant savings.

SPA collects revenues from SEYPEC as pipeline dues when the at-quay bunker points are used as defined in the Harbour Dues Reguations.
