Security

All port facilities accommodating international vessels must comply to the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. This Code mandates a comprehensive security approach for both ships and port facilities, aiming to detect and deter acts that could pose a threat to maritime security.

ISPS compliance is crucial to protect human life, to safeguard property and infrastructure, including ships, port facilities, and cargo and to demonstrate SPA’s commitment to safety and security.

SPA ensures that all port facilities, including the IPHS Port, remain compliant to the ISPS Code by conducting regular assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and risks within the port facility and developing comprehensive security plans that outline procedures for responding to security threats, conducting drills, and managing access control. It puts in place various physical security measures such physical barriers, surveillance systems, and access control systems to restrict unauthorized access to sensitive areas and employs a large workforce of security officers to recognise and respond to security threats.

SPA does not generate any revenue from provision of security services to ensure ISPS compliance.
