Waste Removal

Private waste removal operators are commissioned by vessel agents to collect garbage and pump sewage from vessels. The largest amount of waste is generated by the larger cruise ships. While Seychelles has not yet domesticated the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) SPA is considering how to ensure compliance with the convention once it is. It will become necessary to provide waste reception facilities capable of handling various types of waste, including sewage, garbage, and oily water for later collection and correct disposal by responsible parties.

SPA does not currently generate any revenues directly from this service.
